Concern Worldwide Announces Vacancy for Finance Support Officer in Juba

Concern Worldwide has announced a job opening for the position of Finance Support Officer in Juba, Central Equatoria State, South Sudan. The organisation, which has been operating in South Sudan since 1998, is known for its humanitarian efforts focused on reducing extreme poverty and improving living conditions.

Concern Worldwide runs programmes across key sectors including health and nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), shelter, and livelihoods. Job Purpose

The Finance Support Officer will be responsible for maintaining strong financial control systems and ensuring accurate recording of all financial transactions within the Juba office. The role is critical in supporting transparency, accountability, and compliance with financial policies.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will handle a wide range of financial and administrative tasks. This includes managing petty cash and maintaining accurate financial records such as bankbooks, cashbooks, float registers, and cash logbooks. Daily updates and reconciliation of cash balances are required, alongside monthly bank reconciliation processes.

The role also involves preparing and verifying payment vouchers, ensuring all documents are properly coded and authorised, and stamping paid documents to prevent duplication. The officer will prepare cheque cover letters for large payments and initiate online banking transactions where necessary.

In addition, the candidate will support financial reporting activities by conducting regular cash counts, ensuring compliance with delegated authority limits, and assisting in cash forecasting. The officer will also participate in both internal and external audits to ensure financial accuracy and accountability.

Proper filing and documentation are essential, and the candidate will be expected to maintain an organised system for all financial records. The role also includes supporting staff training on financial procedures and ensuring adherence to organisational policies.

Additional Duties and Ethical Standards

The Finance Support Officer must follow the organisation’s code of conduct and safeguarding policies at all times. The role requires promoting accountability, transparency, and ethical practices in all financial dealings.

Candidates will also participate in organisational activities such as communication and feedback systems, while carrying out any additional responsibilities assigned by management.

Concern Worldwide operates a strict zero-tolerance policy towards abuse, exploitation, fraud, and misconduct. All staff are required to comply with safeguarding policies, and successful candidates will undergo mandatory background checks.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must possess a certificate in Administration or a related field. Candidates should have up to three years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a non-governmental or humanitarian organisation.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required, along with good interpersonal and communication skills. Applicants must demonstrate a high level of confidentiality, discretion, and attention to detail in handling financial information.

Emergency Response Commitment

All staff members are expected to actively participate in emergency response efforts when required. This reflects the organisation’s commitment to rapid and effective humanitarian support during crises.
